Job Description
- To assist the veterinarians in day to day task.
- To handle patients and restrain patients during procedures.
- To process samples for laboratory testing and operate the blood machines.
- To assist with x-ray and/or surgery preparations, setting up the operating theatre, assist the veterinarians during surgery, cleaning and sterilize the surgical instruments and operating theatre post surgery.
- To provide animal nursing and maintaining general welfare for hospitalised patients and boarders, including vitals monitoring, wound management and bandaging support, preparing food, medicate, feeding and exercising.
- To coordinate medical centre's waste and sharp disposal and ensuring practice compliance with waste and sharp items disposal regulations.
- To maintain medical centre hygiene standards in general, clean and disinfect cages, kennels and common areas; maintain and upkeep of feeding utensils.
- To maintain a high standard of patient care, maintaining good relationships with clients and providing excellent customer service to encourage repeat business.
- Perform reception duties, including answering the telephone, making appointments, preparing accounts, accepting payments and writing receipts
- Arrange the entire schedule of appointments (outpatient, inpatient, surgical, pet transportation) for each day and manage client's ward visits.
- Manage and prepare quotations, invoices, update the cash register and get ready the important assignments for the next day.
- To dispense medications and provide clear and accurate dosing instruction to clients on medicines prescribed by Veterinarians.
- Maintain stock control, top up and/or coordinate for medical centre's order including medicine, consumables and domestic items, keep record and follow-up on pending items.
- Record and maintain clinical and office records, filing and knowledge of computer system.
- Ad-hoc/ others duties assign from management from time to time.
Requirements
- At least a Higher Secondary /STPM/ A Level/ Pre-U, Diploma, Advanced/ Higher/ Graduate Diploma.
- Diploma/ Certificate in Veterinary Nursing/ Animal Sciences/ related courses will be an advantage.
- Preferably 1 year clinic experience but entry level candidates with positive attitudes will be considered
- Able to follow directions with and without supervision.
- Good client care and communication skills.
- Committed and passion with animal care. Comfortable holding and restraining both dogs and cats.
- Able to work in team & multitask.
- Must be able to work in shifts and weekends.
